The African Bush and your "why" for financial planning
What is all for anyway? Financial planning, paying less in taxes, your legacy planning, retirement planning are all important tools, but what are you building? And why? Here's a little perspective from me.
July 22, 2023
We are actually outside of Johannesburg. Actually, Planesburg in South Africa. What an amazing place it is. I know this might be a little disconcerting because you're seeing both things on video, but I figured I'd let you see this view as well. Just got back from a morning safari. It has been epic, zebras and lions feeding on a giraffe, live giraffes too.
And you know, it's mind blowing, you know, you just want to be there in nature. You want to be in space. And for those of you who don't know, we're actually here with. I'm one of 10 family members. It's mom. It's my sister's family. It's my kids. It's my in laws and we're just having a blast of a time.
And you know, it's, I talked about this before. Some of you heard me talk about Nelson Mandela and legacy itself, but when we talk about financial planning, it's like, you know, what is it all for? Why? You know, it's not, the goal isn't to just have more money. It's what you're going to plan to do with those resources.
That you've amassed and, you know, we're having these experiences, but more than anything else, we're having these shared experiences. So it's important to know when you're doing this financial planning, when you're doing this wealth management, what's it all for, why are we amassing the wealth, why do we even care about having that sort of money?
Well, it could be about the people that you're with. It could be about the experiences that you have and the places that you go and the stuff that you have. And, you know, sometimes it could be all of it at once. And trip cost a pretty penny as you can probably imagine. It's not the kind of thing you could do often, but these memories that we have, they're gonna last with us for a lifetime.
So, you know, what, what is your why? I think the why is it's important. Why, why do you work? Do you, why do you need that money in the bank? And what's it all for? And how are you spending with it? I know there's been this movement about die with zero versus fire, which is financially independent, retirement or retire early.
I think a lot of it just comes to the same conversations. What are you doing? Why are you doing it? What's it all for? And if we can help you to figure it out, certainly let us know, but, I'll be back. We'll check out that guy flying up there. Amazing. If we can help you figure any of that out, obviously let us know.
But, in the meantime, I'm going to be here soaking up this experience and coming back to share, I'll start uploading pictures at some point when I get back from my trip, but in the meantime, stay safe.
